Frustrated Newbie

Just built my node, but when I go to the umbrel website, it just spins and says connecting (FireFox is also showing it as not secure). I’m on Windows 10. I went into my router and changed the IP to static that it connects to, but when I run arp -a in CMD, it still is showing dynamic…

Tor service is not starting. Maybe better do a clean instalation again.
Burn another sdcard with Umbrel (for maybe you got an issued sdcard), exclude all partitions of SSD (with your PC) and do new install.

I’d read that RPi can corrupt the sdcard if not shut down properly, I can confirm I’d done that, when the block chain was 80 some percent downloaded. A new flash fixed it but it did NOT work with the 3 days of download on the SSD. Started all over, and hope I never goof it up again!

BTW, there is a shutdown command in the Service menu (bottom left corner of dashboard).

I still have most everything to learn about this, and especially Lightning setups and maintenance. I’m taking it in stride, I got hooked on micro controllers along the way and am having fun making graphic tickers that show current prices. Who knew BTC would drop to 29909? Not ready to buy, I don’t think it’s bottomed out yet.

LOL that is just noise… concentrate in learning how to manage your node NOT on the price.

Yes, it’s good advice. But, the Umbrel node is secondary to my putting savings into BTC as I can afford and dare to.

It’s all a part of learning the whole crypto thing. I don’t think inflation will ever deflate, so to speak, so my savings in USD has likely zero chance of regaining buying power and is losing ground quite rapidly. BTC stands a much better chance at gaining buying power than USD, so it’s important to me to funnel savings there. Gold and silver is not readily convertible to cash, and BTC is becoming more so.

I do appreciate your input on this forum. Your willingness to share is commendable.
