[LIST] Options to set up a test environment

Hi everyone,

By now there are various possibilities to run your own node. In my opinion, Umbrel is one of the best choices for this.

However, I still find it difficult to set up a suitable test setup. Of course one that covers layer 1 & 2. Therefore my question to you, what is your first choice for a testnet node? Do you run this exclusively pruned and what would be the downsides of this in a test environment?

On GitHub I found this great course (https://github.com/BlockchainCommons/Learning-Bitcoin-from-the-Command-Line), it mainly lists the following options:

  1. bitcoin core VPS via Linode
  2. compiling from source
  3. using GordianNode-macOS
  4. setting up a Bitcoin node on AWS
  5. setting up a Bitcoin Node on a Raspberry Pi 3

What setup are you using and would you recommend to practice Lightning and Bitcoin on the testnet?
